"Blah blah blah," said Secretary Bill Jones.

From "Brown buys himself a little time" by Phillip Matier, Andrew Ross in the San Francisco Chronicle.

Rough draft: They hit the send button a little too soon over at the Bill Jones for Senate headquarters the other day.

As a result, out went a release -- we kid you not -- that read: "The Republican nominee for U.S. Senate today unveiled his plans to lower gas prices in California, criticizing Barbara Boxer's failed leadership on energy and properly addressing rising gas prices.

" 'Blah blah blah,' said Secretary Bill Jones. 'Blah blah blah.' "

Chronicle columnists Phillip Matier and Andrew Ross appear Sundays, Mondays and Wednesdays. They can also be heard on KGO radio on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Phil Matier can be seen regularly on KRON 4 News, including at 9:30 Sunday nights on his own show, "4 the Record." Got a tip? Call them at (415) 777-8815 or e-mail matierandross@sfchronicle.com.
